It’s Not for Everyone! Temptation Cancun Resort
One of the best parts of being a Travel Advisor is getting the opportunity to visit different countries and explore resorts by taking part in FAM Trips. FAM trips - aka "familiarization" in the travel agent world - are our opportunities as travel consultants to get an insider's look at specific resorts and destinations so we can bring the absolute BEST information to our clientele. Now for the fun stuff...lol My host resort during my FAM Trip was the Adults-Only Temptation Resorts Cancun. Unlike other Adults Only Resorts, Temptation is strictly for guests 21 and over. Temptation is unique as it offers guests the chance to enjoy being around open minded adults. Your privacy is very important which is why the resort has everyone sign a waiver when it comes to videos and photos of other guests (I was able to get quite a few pics though, so check out the full photo gallery below!) One thing I love about this resort is that it caters to everyone and the guests fully participate in the theme nights on the resort making this like no other place you'll have ever stayed!
Pro Tip: No, Temptation isn’t a resort for swingers but is instead geared more towards Free-Spirited Adults that want to have fun and let their hair down.
I also appreciated the clean and sanitary environment at Temptations following COVID-19 protocols. Upon check in, shoes, hands and bags are all sanitized. The other COVID protocols were similar to what I've learned to expect from other resorts (reduced overall capacity, masks required while traveling throughout the resort, changes to food service protocols, etc.)
Nightly entertainment at Temptations is totally different than any other resort you've probably experienced before, with nightly themes that change often. The 2020 weekly lineup includes: Monday-Superheroes; Tuesday- Angels & Devils; Wednesday- Lingerie Lounge; Thursday-School Girls & Nerds; Friday-Toga; Saturday-Let It Glow (Neon Colors); and Sunday-Temptation 911. I was apprehensive about dressing up for the theme nights, but it was actually so much fun and the staff puts on an amazing show. As I mentioned before the resort is very BIG on privacy and you’re not allowed to record the shows or take pictures, but they are INCREDIBLE and if this sounds like your cup of tea, I highly recommend you go check it out for yourself!
Pro Tip: Knowing the schedule ahead of time allows you to decide which nights you want to dress up for so that you can pack the needed items. They also have a store onsite where you can purchase costumes or accessories in case you forget to pack.
Temptation has 7 specialty restaurants onsite, including one for couples only. I had the pleasure of eating at four of the restaurants including Sutra, which gives you the flavors from China, Japan, and India. (So delicious!) They also have a hibachi table, but reservations are required in order to partake in the show. Flame gives you that sexy steakhouse feeling with an incredible wine list (purchase by the bottle) and poolside views. For my Italian foodies, Romanza sets the bar for a sophisticated chic dinner date. Sea Flirt is the oceanfront restaurant specializing in seafood and can be closed down for private events with a set menu.
They do also have a buffet open for breakfast, but guests aren’t allowed to serve themselves due to COVID-19 restrictions. Guests get into a line and a staff member assists with all the food and even carries it back to the table for you.
Pro Tip: When you check-in, they will ask if you have any allergies and will make a note on your reservation.
Each restaurant also asks you about food allergies before being seated. This is an area that many restaurants and resorts unfortunately overlook, so I thought it was a great touch!
Temptation has two pools for guests to enjoy. One is considered a quiet pool for those that just want to relax or float around the pool. The other is considered the "sexy pool" for those that want to have a little cheeky fun. The sexy pool also hosts themed pool parties on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, which are in addition to the daily themed nights mentioned previously. Another unique feature at Temptations is the option to be topless... because who wants tan lines while on vacation?
The décor in the rooms include tons of bright colors everywhere with views of either the garden, pool or ocean depending on the room location. You have three different options of rooms to select from which are Trendy, Plush and Seduction. The beach is a short walk away from the pool, and since the resort is situated in the marina area of Cancun's "Hotel Zone", it is also conveniently located near shopping and off-resort nightlife. The resort also has an outdoor nightclub on site that’s open until 2am and serves up premium alcohol, bottle service, hookah, and even late night snacks for when those munchies kick in!
Temptation's on-site Spa Rose’ is sure to spice up your life, especially if you take advantage of the couples spa treatments. As a solo traveler, I took full advantage of the Deep Tissue Massage, Sauna and Hydrotherapy pool. (If you’ve never experienced the Hydrotherapy pool, add it to your list!!)
Pro Tip: Notify your bank before leaving the country.
Many banks offer monitoring and protection which specifically keep a look out for uncommon or non-local purchases, so if you let them know ahead of time that you'll be traveling, you reduce the risk of your card being unexpectedly declined while you're on your trip. You will also need to put a designated card on file at the resort which holds $400 for all your resort purchases.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay at Temptation and I appreciated something a little different for a FAM trip - especially a location like Temptation where my first person perspective will be valuable for clients who are on the fence about trying something like this out. If you are free-spirited and looking for a resort that will keep the party going throughout your entire trip, I would highly recommend unleashing your wild side at Temptation Resort in Cancun!
