Where My Girls At? Your Guide to Girl’s Trips!

Let’s face it, getting together with your girlfriends can be a challenge these days! Between work, relationships, kids and families, there are a host of obstacles that stand in the way of us getting time with our squad. That’s why SBE is such a fan of planning the Ultimate Girls Trip!

There are many reasons someone might want to go on a Girls Trip.

I asked some of my mom, married, and single friends for some of the reasons why they look forward to taking a trip with their girlfriends.

  1. Strengthen your bond

  2. Experience new things together

  3. Get away from your busy lives

  4. Sometimes you just need a break from your significant other

  5. The opportunity to let your hair down and be yourself with your friends

Now that you have some reasons to go on a girls trip, the million dollar question is: Where are you headed? You can plan the ultimate girls trip both domestically or internationally depending on your travel preferences. Some of my favorite destinations for domestic travel include Las Vegas, Napa Valley, Savannah and New Orleans.

Looking to add passport stamps? Check out Los Cabos, Montego Bay, Cancun or Aruba for a tropical trip. Crossing the pond for your next level girls trip? Add Dubai, Paris, Greece or Italy to your list.

When picking the destination, keep in mind that the time of year and the number of people traveling can affect your overall rate. Consider the size of your group and the travel preferences of your party when booking your overnight accommodations. You can choose from hotels, adults-only all-inclusive resorts, or even luxury vacation rentals (I did this with a GREAT group of girls in Belize! We had an oceanfront villa just for our group and it was a blast!)

Pro Tip: Create a Travel Jar full of your dream destinations, using three different colors to separate the level of each trip. Green: Small Trip (Domestic Destinations), Yellow: Medium Trip (International Destinations), Red: Big Trip (Next Level Destinations).

Here are my top green, yellow, and red destination picks to get you started on your Travel Jar!

Green: Las Vegas

Vegas never sleeps and even though you may not do much sleeping on your trip either, Vegas gives you many different hotel options to select from, making it easy to satisfy everyone in your party. The Linq Hotel by Ceasars offers Poolside Cabana Suites that give you direct access to the pool parties from your own room. Enjoy Sterling’s famous brunch on the patio, complete with unlimited mimosas, dinner with a 360 view of the strip from the Stratosphere’s Top of the World Restaurant, and then dance the night away at Drai's Nightclub. You can take in a show, go shopping, rip an ATV through the desert, or head to Hoover Dam. There is no shortage of amazing things to do in Vegas. Just remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas! (and who better than your girls to keep those juicy secrets?!)

Yellow: Los Cabos, Mexico

Los Cabos, Mexico is the perfect destination for a balance of relaxation and party. In August 2015, I went on a girls trip with 12 other ladies to Los Cabos. was the perfect time of year to get kissed by the Cabo sun! We stayed at Riu Santa Fe, which is an incredible all-inclusive resort.

Granted it wasn’t adults-only, it did have an adults-only pool that we took great advantage of! We made friends with everyone, took a spin on a booze cruise, had dinner off the resort for one night, and the Los Cabos nightlife doesn’t close until 5am, making it a great place to let your hair down with your girls! While many resorts that aren’t adults-only will still have some features or amenities strictly for adults, I suggest considering an adults-only resort for your girls trip - especially if you’re traveling with moms (it’s perfectly okay to need/want a break!) Breathless Resorts & Spas are hands-down one of my favorite adults-only party resort brands. They have resorts in Los Cabos, Cancun, Punta Cana, and Jamaica.

Red: Dubai

Dubai is at the top of my bucket list of destinations I can’t wait to explore. When going to a different country, you get to partake in the whole cultural experience of the host land. Have you ever seen Sex and the City 2 where the girls travel to Dubai? Of course, hilarity ensues - along with plenty of life-changing cultural experiences and lifetime bonds between friends - exactly what you can expect from a luxury international destination like Dubai.

Dubai is a cosmopolitan city where it is not unusual to see all types of clothing styles coexisting in harmony. Nonetheless, conforming to the cultural norms of the host country is a sign of respect, and as such,it is important to dress modestly - especially for women. SBE has a relationship with a Dubai supplier that can give your group its own personal concierge and guide your stay. This is a great way to get the full Dubai experience without the challenge of intercultural communication and often can mean experiences you might not get doing a self-guided trip. The most requested hotel for SBE travelers headed to Dubai is JW Marriott Marquis (their pool is literally breathtaking!). Flying out of New York will give you a direct overnight flight so that you can start enjoying your vacation as soon as you land.

Make it easy for everyone!

When planning a large group trip, working with a Travel Consultant will help keep your group organized and keep everyone on task and meeting important deadlines, which could determine whether or not you get to keep your group rate, and whether that one friend (we all have one!) actually makes the trip!

I’ve always been the planner among my friends, so taking on the responsibility of planning trips as a travel consultant was a no-brainer, and I love helping people plan fun and adventurous trips as the foundation for incredible memories! It is so fun to make excursion recommendations that I know my group travelers will love. My favorite excursions to include on my clients itinerary are ATV riding, ziplining, wine tasting, tequila tours, and a catamaran cruise overlooking the sunset. Excursions are a great way for you to explore more while doing something different with your squad. I absolutely love a t-shirt theme or dinner color theme as a way to further bring my group travelers together!
